Eluding the security systems, they enter the world’s tallest buildings, make their way out on to the roof and, like tight-rope walkers, stroll along walls and antennae over terrifying drops. They climb fearlessly to the highest point to find the best light and the most breath-taking view.Their feet dangling in the void, they hold on with one hand while gripping their selfie stick in the other.

“No limit, no control,” declares Angela Nikolau on her Instagram profile. “Sometimes we climb on to a building even without a camera just to watch a colourful dawn or sunset,” adds Ivan Beerkus.

Passion for the extreme

The pair has scaled the Sagrada Familiain Spain, the Shanghai Tower in China, the Eiffel Tower in France, and dozens of other record-breaking buildings. To celebrate their love story and reaching 500,000 followers on Instagram, they decided to be the first to climb the 597 metres tallGoldin Finance 117 tower in Tianjin, China.“I began climbing buildings seven years ago in Siberia where I used to live,” Angela tells us in a matter-of-fact way.“About twenty floors, just for a laugh.I wanted to explore my personal Iimits and go beyond.I posted the photos I took and people liked them.In a couple of years climbing became my work,” she continues, as if talking about a normal job.But Angela and Ivan did not get to the top of the world by accident.

They cultivated their passion for extreme climbing, for hanging in space, and for a high-adrenaline lifestyle for years while practising gymnastics, parkour and yoga in the gyms of Moscow, where they grew up and met. “We know what we do is dangerous, so we train hard for it.Kids shouldn’t even think about imitating us.We’re professionals.”
